The fourth issue released January 11, 2010 describes accomplishments in the previous quarter as well as discussions on issues related to the electric power industry. The lead article describes progress on a U.S. Department of Energy project undertaken by Signatech Systems to develop visualization tools for distribution systems as preparation for the smart grid. The second article includes highlights of a U.S. Department of Commerce trade mission on Energy Efficiency products for India. With growing demand, and lagging supply, India must adopt aggressive energy efficiency standards to meet consumer needs. The third article includes description of a project launched with EPRI to develop fleet-wide performance center requirements. Side bar articles include commentary on the Copenhagen Climate Change summit, rise of nuclear power for developing countries and Signatech Systems Watchman wireless system for smart surveillance of remote facilities.
