| Signatech Systems part of U.S. - India Department of Commerce Trade Mission for Energy Efficiency Charlotte, NC, December 1, 2009 
Signatech Systems was one of few companies that participated in a U.S. Department of Commerce trade energy efficiency trade mission to India, co-hosted by the U.S. Department of Commerce, the Government of India, and the Ministry of Power. The mission’s aim was to introduce U. S. manufacturers of energy efficient products for the industrial sector. The mission visited New Delhi, Chennai, and Mumbai November 16-20,2009. The Government of India is analyzing over 750 large energy users in an effort to reduce energy consumption by approximately 10,000 megawatts (MW) per year. Reducing demand helps offset the pressure to increase generation capacity. Signatech Systems scope of the mission was to discuss means of implementing demand side management technologies.
Signatech Systems hosts NTPC Staff on visits to U.S. utilities that have implemented Fleet Wide Monitoring Charlotte, NC, November 6, 2009 Under a project sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Signatech Systems hosted U.S. utility visits to determine best practices and experiences at 2 major investor-owned utilites. NTPC with over 30 GW capacity and planning to expand to 75 GW by 2017 has its assets spread over a vast geographical area and includes a mix of coal-, gas- and hydroelectric plants. The visiting NTPC staff heard experiences in implementaiton for improved reliability, improved operations and lessons learned. | | Signatech Systems Prepares Report Describing Technical Requirements for Fleet-Wide Monitoring for Asset Intelligence Charlotte, NC, April 15, 2009 Under a project sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Signatech Systems prepared technical requirements for intelligent asset monitoring off all its operating plants for an Asian utility. The utility with over 30 GW capacity has its assets spread over a vast geographical area and includes a mix of coal-, gas- and hydroelectric plants. The report consists of ten sections and two appendices. The report contents include utility Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and data historian capabilities; SMART functional requirements and proposed system architecture and business process for data management and information flow. The report provides major features to be included in SMART 24 x 7 based on feedback from NTPC staff documented under previous Tasks. Signatech Systems Attends SAP Meeting on Utility Asset Management & OSISoft Annual Users Conference Barcelona, Spain; San Francisco, USA. March 2009. Signatech Systems joined several global companies at two major workshops/meetings held in March. At the SAP Utility Asset Management conference, a number of talks focused on utilizing digital information to further asset value. The presentations were topped by Paul Kurchina's (left) presentation on a future digital plant that unified all these concepts. At the Annual OSI Conference several presentations carried forward the same theme to enhance value now utilizing plant digital capabilities.The picture on the left shows-- Paul and Clint Carter, Luminant Corp.-- two trail-blazers who implemented intelligent asset monitoring as well then-new wireless sensor technologies to monitor plant equipment at their respective utilities (total: 29 GW).
